The designs on its head represents virtue, on it wings, justice, on its back, courtesy, on its chest, benevolence and on its belly, faith.   Dragon and Phoenix are two of the 'Four Spiritually Endowed Creatures' in the Chinese legends and are widely used in celebrations such as  births and marriages where in birth, dragon symbolizes a new-born strong and healthy boy, phoenix, a new-born healthy and pretty girl, and in marriage, usually dragon and phoenix together, symbolizes a perfect match and the prosperity and happiness the union is to bring.
